Newcastle University

Newcastle’s aim is to be a “world-class civic university", combining local engagement with growing international activity.

It was the first UK university to open an overseas medical school – the first cohort in Johor, Malaysia, graduated in 2014 – and there is a joint venture with Singapore Institute of Technology.

Now the focus is on its home city, with the opening this year of the first phase of the £250m Science Central project, run in partnership with the city council.
