Exeter wins our Sports University of the Year award this year, three years after scooping our overall title. Top rated for sports science academically, its teams hold down a top-10 place in the main inter-university sports league. Exeter remains seventh in our overall table despite a slip in student satisfaction levels this year. Our new way of looking at the results of the annual National Student Survey places greater emphasis on student assessments of teaching quality, over their views on the wider student experience. While Exeter fares well under both analyses, in common with many other institutions it ranks markedly higher for student experience.
That exceptional student experience has helped increase the size of its undergraduate intake by almost a third, adding nearly 1,500 students, since it joined the Russell Group of elite research-led universities and government recruitment restrictions began to be relaxed in 2012, the same year it won our University of the Year award also.
