University of Kent

Kent has been celebrating its 50th anniversary this month after achieving outstanding results in the latest official assessments of university research.

Almost three-quarters of the work submitted for the Research Excellence Framework was judged world-leading or internationally excellent, placing Kent among the top 40 universities for research.

The successes, led by social work and social policy (with 50% of research considered world-leading), music and drama, and modern languages (both 39%), help Kent to its highest position ever in our league table on the fringes of the top 20 and a shortlisting for University of the Year.
