About NHS

The NHS was launched in 1948. It was born out of a long held ideal that good healthcare should be available to all, regardless of wealth – a principle that remains at its core. With the exception of some charges such as prescriptions and optical and dental services, the NHS in England remains free at the point of use for anyone who is a UK resident.

The NHS is an exciting and challenging place to work. In April 2016 the NHS underwent a radical reform and re-structure brining new and increasingly complex challenges for NHS leaders and staff. The NHS employs more than 1.6million people, putting it in the top 5 of the world’s largest workforce.

Finance professionals have a vital role to play in the NHS and we are currently looking to recruit a number of apprentices.

The aim of the scheme is to attract potential high flyers to NHS Finance roles in these regions and to ensure that there is an adequate pool of highly competent, skilled and trained finance professionals with the potential to succeed in senior and director levels roles in these areas in the UK.
