The role of a Medical Representative
The aim of a medical representative is to liaise with healthcare professionals in order to promote, sell and increase the market share of their company’s pharmaceutical or healthcare portfolio of products. Activities of a medical sales representative will include presenting on a one to one or group basis to GP’s, Practice Staff, Hospital Doctor’s, Nurses and Pharmacists.

Candidates should be self motivated, well organised, excellent communicators, able to demonstrate tenacity and a drive for results.

Pharmaceutical and Healthcare Companies recognise the need for a high level of training in order to achieve the quality standard of representation required. Training usually lasts around eight weeks during which time you would be trained on industry knowledge, company vision, sales skills, anatomy and physiology, product and competitor knowledge as well as the ABPI and NHS.
