FC Business Intelligence Limited
As a business intelligence and networking company we help leading corporations define their future strategy and direction, develop growth opportunities and solve the problems facing their sectors.
FC:
- develops and hosts conferences
- builds niche industry websites and business networks
- produces and distributes newsletters
- authors or coordinates reports
This way we run key gatherings for the communities we serve, provide information resources and facilitate industry communication all year round.
Industry focus & insight
The engines of our business are growth and change. We focus on two types of industry:
- those arising from technology developments which are moving into full global commercialisation
- those needing to change in order to respond to disruptive technologies or global events
Our aim is to provide companies with insights into strategic options for the future in order that they can capitalise on opportunity.
We work in a number of different industries – the main ones are:
- Renewable Energy
- Oil & Gas and Utilities
- Responsible Business
- Travel and Transportation
- Pharmaceuticals and Healthcare
- Business Intelligence
- Wireless and Mobile Technology
- Gambling and Gaming
A talent for business
Key to success are our people to whom we give broad and early responsibility plus the skills and support to succeed.
What we do
Summits, conferences, workshops and seminars
This is the core of our business and still proves a basic truth: There is no substitute for getting senior business people together to share experiences, discuss the issues and opportunities and build partnerships.
Our conferences can be anything from tightly focused niche events to an annual industry event where major policy, strategy or product announcements are made.
Exhibitions
These are always organised to complement a conference and are places where exhibitors know that attendees are important industry figures and decision-makers.
Online communities
Whilst technology or global events can be catalysts, we believe it’s people that change an industry: The key opinion-formers and those who buy into their vision.
Which is why we are committed to making sure that they’re more than just a name on a database. Online communities are how we extend face-to-face meetings into year-round networking opportunities.
Career Development
We’re a flat organisation with very little hierarchy, a strong focus on developing broad business skills and feeding entrepreneurial hunger.
There are a number of ways to build a career here:
- Develop an original idea – be it one of ours or a new one of your own – from inception. This involves growing a team of people with you to run and build a major business
- Join with someone who’s already started building one of these businesses, and develop your own management or creative role to complement them
- Move into a cross-business management role such as Marketing Manager or e-Business Manager for the company as a whole. Since we’re a flat structure the number of these roles is small, but increasingly influential
Our philosophy is not to give you a desk and chair with a job title attached to it, but to give you a number of nudges in the right direction.
Consequently, whatever path you take in our organisation, you will develop more business skills than any of your peers at the same age, including the ability to use your judgment to make business decisions in a wide variety of environments and situations.
What sort of people are we looking for?
We’re looking for people who are able to assume responsibility quickly and make their own decisions. If you have a need to create something, to build a business, and to make it in your own – in other words, if there’s evidence there’s some entrepreneurial blood flowing through you, then we’re interested.
There’s another thing that’s essential… and that’s that you have great communications skills. Because, you’ll be speaking to business leaders worldwide discussing developing issues on their terms and coaxing them to part with the nuggets of information that allow us to see what’s going to be vital in the near future.
It can be stressful at times, because taking risks and handling them is an important part of our business. So you’ll need to be able to cope with stress and work long hours when (but only when) it’s necessary.
Most important of all, you’ll need to be willing to learn… every day, all the time.
What we value
Unlike many companies we’re not solely interested in the skills you’ve learned at university or in previous jobs. Hobbies, interests and social life are just as pertinent in establishing your level of ambition, your commitment and your potential.
If we get the right person, they’ll be good at learning the skills they need to succeed with us and should strive to do exactly that.
