Add an annual turnover of more than $12 billion to a rental and leasing fleet made up of more than one million vehicles spread across some 7,600 locations worldwide and you get Enterprise Rent-A-Car – a business that’s grown into the largest car rental company in North America and arguably, the world.

Of course, bigger doesn't always mean better. There can be a downside to success, and it's usually the employees who end up bearing the brunt. But not at Enterprise.

The fact is, we owe our success to each and every one of our people, from senior managers to management trainees alike. We firmly believe in empowering each of them to make the decisions that will affect their work and their career. This philosophy, along with our uncompromising commitment to customers, is what has made Enterprise a genuine success story and a truly special place to work.

Just imagine the possibilities that come with joining a huge, internationally successful business with the type of personal, entrepreneurial approach which allows individuals to stand out. Our secret lies in the fact that we're divided up into thousands of smaller, local businesses. So when you take one of our trainee graduate  jobs, you'll be learning how to run the business yourself. And how many organisations with a $12 billion turnover can say that?

As for tomorrow? Rest assured – with the plans we have in place, our future is set to be a bright and rewarding one. And, as an Enterprise management trainee, you’ll be one of the new generation helping us write the next chapter of our success story.

Diversity

Our commitment to creating a diverse and inclusive environment touches everyone in Enterprise’s world – our employees, customers and business partners. For our people, diversity isn’t just a single issue. Instead it bridges a number of areas, including respect, training and opportunity. As a result, we’ve put in place 11 local diversity teams across the UK and Ireland – our Diversity/Career and Family Focus Groups – who work with our national team to make sure we hit focus on diversity, retain and develop our people.  Their focus is on bringing the best out of our people and helping them balance their work and other commitments.

Building a representative, inclusive workforce is right at the heart of everything we do in diversity, and that’s why recruiting is such a large part of all our plans. We’re at the forefront of local and national diversity recruiting drives and have built links with a host of supporting organisations. These include Students in Free Enterprise, Race for Opportunity, Opportunity Now, Inclusive Recruitment, Blind in Business and Remploy.

Importantly, diversity’s a priority that continues long after employees have come on board. All our new employees benefit from Diversity Orientation Training and we make sure our managers keep the issue front of mind with bespoke Diversity Leadership Training. This helps them identify and build diverse talent, encourage different perspectives and, in the process, become better managers and leaders.

Finally, our energies and efforts are also focused on our suppliers. We’ve a real sense of responsibility about who we partner with and work hard to make sure our supplier base reflects the diversity of the community as a whole. Gaining minority-owned and female-owned business partners is all a part of this push and that’s why we’re a founding member of Minority Supplier Development UK, a private sector organisation to encourage links between companies and ethnic minority businesses. Clearly, diversity really is an area from which everyone gains.
