ThoughtWorks Ltd: 2012 BCSWomen Lovelace Colloquium
Date: 12 April 2012
Venue: Bath
Time
Event information: The Department of Computer Science is to host the 2012 BCSWomen Lovelace Colloquium.

The Lovelace Colloquium is an annual event for female computer science undergraduate and taught Master's students enrolled in UK universities. It is named after Ada Lovelace, a computing pioneer (and the daughter of the poet Lord Byron). Our Lovelace Laboratory is also named in her honour.

The aims of the colloquium are to provide a forum for undergraduate and taught Master's women to share their ideas and network, to provide a stimulating series of talks from women in computing, and to provide advice about careers in computing from a female perspective. In recent years, attendance by higher year female school students has also been encouraged.

For each of the past three years, we have had more students invited to present posters than any other UK university: invitations are competitive, based upon submitted abstracts. In 2010, our students won the prize for best original poster and the prize for best general interest poster.
