Where to live in London

Depends on a lot of things - what you want to pay; where you wish to be near; where friends live; where you will be working etc...

Are you gonna be studying or working? When I was in uni (UCL) I lived close to the main campus, which cost me a bit more in terms of rent, but I saved tonnes of money by walking everywhere. Especially when you're a student you will be going up and down between home and uni a lot, as you'll only have a few lectures and tube fares can go up quite quickly.

Now I'm working I live slightly out of central london, but my commute is still only 35 mins which is good for London standards. Also, depending on what kind of nightlife you're into camden or shoreditch might be good hotspots to live (and still affordable!)

Thanks guys - are there any areas that should be avoided? I'm a little concerned about going somewhere a little dangerous. I think Camden would be cool, but how is it at night?

I was in Camden recently and I didn't even feel safe there during the day!
