I Love My Mum :)

I am about to start my first 'real' job and am a little bit scared about being the new boy. I consider myself lucky, I am about to graduate and am walking into what could lead to my dream job (I will be working as a low level journalist) but am not sure how to act of my first day. Over enthusiaism and excitement might be misread, but so might holding back be misread as offishness. I want to fit into the department's dynamic, so what is a good way to enter the work place?

i think seem interested, ask enough questions to demonstrate this but not so many as to annoy, take some initiative in the tasks you're given and show enthusiasm.

I think as long as you are confident friendly and polite you'll be ok. Ask questions, but not stupid ones like wheres the kettle (well not to your manager anyway)and lots of smiling and general chit chat with your colleagues will build up a rapour!

You have got the job so clearly they think you are right for the position. Go in there with that confidence and just try your best, no-one can ask anything more of you! Good luck!
