The job market at the moment is terrible. Anybody else feel like you're stuck whether you're in a job or unemployed? If you're in a job and you want to move on with your career, it's so difficult to get another job that you feel trapped there, and if you don't have a job it's impossible to find one! I can only imagine what it will be like for graduates who are graduating this year; there's going to be a big backlog of graduates who didn't manage to get a job and it'll keep piling up from there.

My brother is currently in his second year at university and he won't even talk about it - he doesn't want to be reminded!

Any stories anyone has to share?

Yep it sucks - can't believe the state of the job market just as I graduate!! I was looking toget a an internship in banking, but there aren't many out there any more!! :(

I guess it is just a matter of trying.  One of my friends applied late for a grad scheme in January and yet has ended up with a place.  I guess if the right opportunity comes along then there is no problem, you just have to look harder for it than before is all.

I think it is much worse than people make out and I think there are plenty of jobs out there. The problem is that so many people are sticking their heads in the sand and not looking at all the opportunities they have. Go to the graduate fairs and talk to some of the companies that are recruiting!
