Hi
Wasn't sure where to post this in advice or broadcasting but here goes anyway. Quick background...

Would ideally love a career in news broadcasting journalism radio or tv. even starting at the bottom as a newsroom assistant would be amazing (altho no opportunities about) as theres no graduate schemes. managed to secure local hospital radio after Christmas period. but i fear this isn't good enough.

Im 22 and an economics graduate from a top uni, 3 A's at alevel in Economics, Government and Politics and Geography. ABB at AS Level and 11 gcses with 5 being A*-A's etc. joined lots of societies at uni and i attend most political conferences, debates etc. Iv travelled many countries currently trying to self teach myself arabic as unemployed. so as an all rounder and academically think im alright. and its not all about academics i guess.

so I guess its experience that lets me down yet no ones willing to give me some. Should try other avenues such as being a sales planner or office admin in a network even though im not qualified and hope to job over to the tv side?or is that a long shot? get a another degree in broadcasting journalism will be adding to my debts already.

I have signed up to many job sites involving media searches and look on tv websites everyday and send out CVs yet i guess im not qualified for. and theres not much about aswell. is any route a good route as im browsing independent production companies for runners in hope of then becoming a researcher. yet they're not in news broadcasting at all. Fully aware there's so many cutbacks within the big news networks so its difficult to even get a look in.

Im aware that i may have to do work experience for a few years unpaid being a slave in hope for something eventually. i guess there lies the problem of how am i going to support myself. but ill come to that when that comes along.

sorry its long. any advice would be good whether negative or positive or advice on how i can stand out more like blogs or maybe setting up my own online news channel?
slowly losing confidence whilst doubting myself and becoming negative with being unemployed for 4 months.
any help would be appreciated. thanks
