This Level 1 course helps you become more confident with using computers and IT, and gain a nationally recognised qualification. This qualification is the next step for beginner students. You may have done the Entry Level ICT qualification course for beginners or have that level of computer skills. It is tutor-led throughout and is designed to build confidence and recognise computing skills, knowledge and understanding. It equips learners with the basic range of transferable skills for the modern workplace. On this course you will be taught three units. There are no examinations as you build a portfolio of evidence. The units are File Management and e-document production using Word, Creating Spreadsheets and Graphs using Excel and Presentation Graphics using PowerPoint. This course includes tuition in the subjects required for the assessments, assessment preparation, revision and the assessments. Students can refer to handouts during assessments. Having attended the whole course and completed the assessments students will have achieved a level of confidence and competence at this level of computing. They will have been prepared to take their study in computing subjects to the next level or to use computers in their studies of other subjects. You will use the most up-to-date Microsoft Office programs and when you successfully complete the course you will receive the Level 1 IT User Skills (ITQ) qualification. Students may wish to enrol on the next ECDL ITQ Level 2 course at the same time or after completion.
