ICG’s PEFI team has responsibility for managing ICG Enterprise Trust plc (“ICGT”), an investment trust listed on the London Stock Exchange with a diversified portfolio of private equity assets. ICGT has been investing in private equity for over 30 years and its objective is to provide shareholders with long term capital growth by means of investment in unquoted companies, mainly through specialist funds but also directly.

The successful candidate will be a member of the investment team with a primary focus on providing analytical support in relation to the monitoring and analysis of ICGT’s existing portfolio (around 60 funds comprising more than 400 underlying companies). In addition to strong analytical skills, the successful candidate must also have strong interpersonal skills, be highly-motivated and keen to work alongside like-minded individuals as part of a committed team of seven investment professionals.

The practical work experience provided by the role will also include:

  • assisting in the analysis of new fund investment opportunities, particularly in relation to historical performance;
  • contributing to the preparation of quarterly papers to the non-executive board of ICGT regarding portfolio performance and investment activity;
  • helping to improve the efficiency of the portfolio monitoring process by streamlining and automating certain tasks; and
  • providing analytical input into a variety of ad hoc projects including strategy reviews, investor presentations and market research.

More generally, the internship will enable the successful candidate to gain an understanding of the broader private equity market and to develop the key business skills crucial for a successful career in the financial services industry, including problem solving, multi-tasking, working both independently and as part of a team, and delivering high quality work in a timely manner.
