Graduate Placement – Internal Communications

37 hours per week, Fixed Term Contract 12 months from start date

Strengthening internal communications: Engaging internal staff with SNH’s vision, mission, values and key messages, advocating the digital workplace and strategically forward planning the editorial approach to our staff newsletter.

The role of an effective internal communications placement will enable their colleagues to have a better understanding of their role within SNH and therefore their own contribution to achieving our business objectives.  The internal communications placement will manage three projects that will increase understanding of how SNH is working to achieve its organisational objectives and the contributions required of staff. The placement will work alongside colleagues in our internal communications team who will also be working to improve the connection staff have with who we are and what we do, including our organisation’s objectives, our vision, mission, values and key messages. This will support implementation of our Strategy and move towards a digital workplace with a more collaborative way of working within the SNH workplace community, developing and supporting communities of interest.

Applicants must meet the following eligibility criteria:

SNH are offering paid graduate placement opportunities in various natural heritage subjects and locations, these are open to graduates who meet the following eligibility criteria:

  • You must have graduated at degree or postgraduate level from a higher level education institution within the past 4 years.
  • Are not currently studying full time or will have graduated from your studies at the time of the placement.
  • You must have had no more than one year’s relevant (graduate level) work experience since your last graduation.

The Successful candidate will have a relevant qualification in one of the units core disciplines for example - internal communications, public relations, digital communications, campaigns, marketing or other disciplines related to communications.

You must have excellent organisational and analytical skills, with good communication skills, including influencing, listening and demonstrating clear written and verbal presentation. You will have knowledge of effective internal communications, staff engagement, raising awareness and an understanding of key messages for internal audiences. Knowledge of digital communication tools and role within the digital workplace with knowledge of approaches to engaging others through approaches such as blogs and forums are a must. Finally, you must have good problem solving skills with a positive approach to discussing and resolving issues.
