This programme is all about our radiological projects.  Join Cavendish Nuclear, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Babcock International Group, who are the UK’s leading nuclear services company, and your work could range from supporting the design and build of brand new reactors and working-life extensions of existing nuclear plant to safe decommissioning and remediation of legacy sites. You could be providing radiological instrumentation, safety hazard analysis or specialist measurements of on-site nuclear material.

WHERE YOU CAN JOIN US

See the list below to find out more about the areas of our business that are offering places on our Physics programme for autumn 2017. But no matter which team you join, you could be based anywhere in the UK. That’s why we ask all our graduates to be flexible and willing to move during their programme.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

You’ll be based in our radiometric instrument laboratories at Sellafield in Cumbria for the four years of your programme. In that time, you’ll design, test, calibrate and take care of the instrumentation that measures all types of radiation for our clients’ sites around the world. Which will give you all the experience you need to get your head around the technical detail and develop an understanding of how this part of our business contributes to our success.

WHAT YOU’LL GET OUT OF IT

Everything builds towards you getting professional registration, such as with the Institute of Physics. That will help you move into a more senior role after the programme. And we’ll give you full support every step of the way, along with a competitive starting salary of £27,000 - £30,000.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

We’re looking for a 2:1 (Hons) degree in Physics which should be accredited by the Institute of Physics. You’ll also need to satisfy the MOD’s security requirements (and may need to complete a medical assessment).

Applications for this programme are currently open.  To avoid disappointment we recommend that you apply sooner rather than later as we work on a rolling basis and where we experience large volumes of applications, we will close the role early.
