The Economics Unit sits within our Market Intelligence Group, helping organisations understand how their credit portfolio compares to their peers and how it is likely to be impacted by changes in lending policy, market competition and the economy in the future. The group is made up of experts in economics, credit risk, market analysis and portfolio benchmarking, enabling them to combine their strengths to provide an in‐depth understanding of markets and the economic context in which allows organisations manage their business both now and in the future.
The Market Intelligence Group is seeking to recruit an economist/senior economist to join our small construction forecasting team within the Economics Unit, with a strong econometrics background. Ideally we are looking to recruit a second jobber with some experience of industry analysis, preferably construction, at senior economist level, but the post is also open to recent graduates with a genuine interest in economics/construction.
This role will give you the opportunity to manipulate and interpret data, produce forecasts, create reports, and be involved with internal and external client engagement. The forecasting, analysis and report writing is completed at a national, regional and sub-regional level, and will include some travel, possibly international.
We are looking for someone that can demonstrate they have excellent data preparation, analysis, modelling and forecasting skills, and have written analysis of current and future trends in the economy as a whole or for specific sectors.
We are looking for someone with MSc or strong undergraduate degree in Economics, Econometrics or related discipline, an equivalent qualification or relevant experience. Ideally the right candidate will have experience in the construction industry, or a closely related sector (i.e. manufacturing).
Ideally candidates will have used econometric software, including Eviews (or similar), to manipulate and forecast datasets.
