You don’t need a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Maths,

Because we’re all about flexibility.

At GCHQ, we use cutting-edge technology to protect Britain against a range of cyber threats. We’re looking for those people who are fascinated by all things tech to join our Software Technologists Engagement Programme. This unique programme is for individuals with non-STEM degrees. It’s about having a natural preoccupation and curiosity, all of which drives your eagerness to pursue a career in cyber.

You’ll work alongside the best talent in the nation and take advantage of our state-of-the-art facilities, becoming a fully-fledged Professional Software Developer in just nine months. While you complete our intensive ‘Inside Out’ course and training centre, you’ll learn how to define and build IT systems – working across the full software engineering life cycle. It’s about solving problems creatively and pushing the limits so we find the best solution (which isn’t always the first solution).

It’s an innovative and fast-paced programme that’s completely tailored to your learning needs. We’ll understand your strengths and realise the gaps in your knowledge, really building your technical expertise.

At the end of the programme, you’ll move across to the Manchester office, working on business-critical challenges. You’ll protect Britain from terrorism, espionage and organised crime. In return, you’ll enjoy a supportive network and a flexible working system.

What you’ll need

To join this programme, you’ll need a 2:2 in any non-STEM degree subject. Above all, you’ll have a demonstrable passion for technology. You’ll also have teamwork skills, along with the ability to translate complex technical terms.
