Production Engineering is a combination of manufacturing technology, engineering sciences with management science. A Production Engineer at AWE would typically have a wide knowledge of engineering practices and is aware of the management challenges related to production. At AWE our Production Engineers deliver process design, development and introduction of the best manufacturing practice in terms of productivity, reliability, innovation and quality to the workplace.

Who are you? We are looking to recruit graduates into Production Engineering who have a degree in an Engineering related discipline and a particular interest, or specialism, in the areas of:

  • Castings
  • Machining
  • Joining Processes
  • Metal Cutting
  • Tool Design
  • Jigs and Fixtures
  • Die and Mould Design
  • Material Science
  • Machine Designing
  • Manufacturing

Who are we? The Atomic Weapons Establishment (AWE) has been central to the UK’s defence for more than 60 years, providing and maintaining the warheads for the country's nuclear deterrent and supporting national nuclear security.

We are the nation’s largest high-tech research, development and production facility and cover the whole lifecycle of nuclear warheads - from initial concept, assessment and design, through component manufacture and assembly, to in-service support and finally decommissioning and disposal.
