As the UK’s largest engineering, construction, services and investment group, it follows that we’re particularly interested in hearing from graduates whose degrees are in engineering, construction-related disciplines, quantity surveying and commercial management. However, there’s more to our business than simply engineering and construction: we’re also keen to hear from graduates in other disciplines who may be interested in one of our management trainee schemes. In all instances, we look for graduates who share our passion and belief in the work we do.
Whatever position or area you join us in, you’ll enjoy exposure to various different areas of our business, including design, project/contract management, asset management and commercial management: you’ll see how we win work through proposals and tenders, procure suppliers and sub-contractors, and manage facilities and services for clients.
The schemes themselves are just as varied, and combine courses, seminars and practical on-the-job experience with the opportunity to achieve a relevant professional qualification. This could come from one of the major engineering institutions (ICE, IMechE, IET, CIBSE), or CIOB, RICS and ICES. You’ll also sharpen your skills in such areas as communication, managing business relationships, leadership and self development.
The transition from academia to the working world can be a difficult one: we’ll assign you a mentor who will help you both professionally and personally to achieve your aims. Throughout, we’ll support you every step of the way and give you the foundations you need to pursue a career that will never cease to exhilarate.
Start dates for our graduate schemes are generally quite flexible. We understand you may want a long break over the summer before starting work or, alternatively, that you might want to get started as soon as possible. We can discuss a convenient date during your interview.
