Community Affairs - Open
Degree discipline required: Any degree - but must have excellent communication skills!
We have a placement for penultimate year students or those who have recently graduated.
Location: Fawley, Southampton
As part of the Community Affairs teams at Fawley, you will play an important role in making sure that employees and the local community are aware of ExxonMobil's community support programmes.
You will be responsible for putting together site newsletters and local media releases about our community initiatives, so good writing skills are a must.
Technical placement - Open
We have one-year placements for Chemical and Mechanical Engineering students at our technical department in Fawley.
Degree discipline required: Chemical & Mechanical Engineering
Placement period: 12 months from July each year
Location: Fawley, near Southampton
There are roles available to work as part of the fully integrated petroleum and petrochemicals operation at Fawley. Your role will focus on improving the integrity and profitability of operations and provide you with an opportunity to put into practice what you have learnt to date.
Mechanical Engineering Placement
The placement for Mechanical Engineers provides an opportunity to join either the Inspection or Maintenance group at the Refinery.
Graduation year: Undergraduates entering penultimate year of study in 2012. Graduates who are graduating in 2011, or have graduated within the last four years.
Placement period: 12 months from July each year
Placement with the Inspection group
This 12 month placement for Mechanical Engineer provides the opportunity to join the Inspection group that manages the pressure vessel integrity of all the fixed equipment on the refinery. The Mechanical Engineer's key role will be to join a Business Area and assist that team in delivering equipment integrity from inspection of existing equipment, strategy development/ analysis, day to day trouble shooting and project implementation. This will be a varied role exposing the engineer to all different types of refining equipment and the types of corrosion and degradation issues we experience.
Placement with the Maintenance group
This 12 month placement for Mechanical Engineer provides the opportunity to join the Site Maintenance Department that plans, schedules and executes all Maintenance work on the Refinery. The Mechanical Engineer's key role will be to work with the Maintenance Analyst on stewarding the overall performance of the Maintenance department and identifying opportunities to improve efficiency. There will also be opportunity to be part of the team that develops the Maintenance strategy for future years. This will be a varied role exposing the engineer to risk based work selection techniques, Maintenance work processes and analytical work.
Marine Operations & Project Services placement - Open
We have one-year placements for Naval Architecture students at our shipping technical department in Leatherhead.
Degree discipline required: Naval Architecture
Placement period: 12 months from July each year
Location: Leatherhead, Surrey
There are roles available to work as part of the technical services group in International Marine Transportation Limited, a subsidiary of EM International. Your role will focus on structural assessments with respect to owned and 3rd party tonnage, energy efficiency projects and supporting marine related project across the company, providing you with an opportunity to put into practice what you have learnt to date.
Financial Analyst - Controllers - Open

Nature of Programme: ExxonMobil’s financial organisation offers Financial/Business Analysis placements for exceptional candidates each year. The program is designed to provide an opportunity for the candidate to assess ExxonMobil as a future employer and ExxonMobil to assess candidate skills and long-term career fit.
Your role from day one will be working as part of a team supporting one of our business units, providing accounting or analytical support for day-to-day operations as well as having the opportunity to work on individual projects. Technical & Business Intelligence Placement - Open
Degree discipline required:Chemical Engineering, Engineering, Computer Science or Chemistry
Placement period: 13 months commencing the end of June each year
Location: Fawley Refinery, Southampton, UK
The role
In this 13- month placement you will be responsible for maintaining the core operations information system for the UK's largest oil refinery. You will be the custodian of engineering calculations and critical safety data and will advise engineers on our systems and information management. This is a responsible position of strategic importance to the company; you will be accountable for your actions and decisions.
You will be required to develop a broad understanding of the refinery, business structure, operations and work processes. It will be important for you to coach engineers and operators, and to test and update engineering tools, ensuring that they are accurate and efficient.
The person
You will be expecting a 1st class or 2:1 degree in a numerate and practical discipline. Chemical Engineering is advantageous. You will have good communication skills and be well organised, able to understand complex systems and have an eye for detail. You should be prepared for a steep learning curve. Competence with Microsoft Office and the Microsoft Windows environment, database concepts and SQL would be advantageous but are not essential.
Full-time employment offers may be made at the conclusion of the placement to those candidates who have demonstrated the skills and ability to achieve senior management levels.
