A Breath of Fresh Air - Development Chemists
Johnson Matthey is the leading supplier of catalytic emissions control systems for gasoline and diesel powered vehicles. In our world-class Technology Centre at Royston near Cambridge, we develop advanced catalytic solutions to control engine emissions and state-of-the-art manufacturing technologies for mass-production of emissions control catalysts. Due to continued success we are recruiting Development Chemists to join our Product Development and Process Development groups.
In Product Development you will join a team of Chemists and Engineers focusing on the development and application of the next generation catalysts to meet the challenging emissions requirements of future passenger cars or heavy-duty vehicles. You will be able to work independently and as part of a team, and be a self-motivated problem solver who can work to tight deadlines with excellent communication skills. The role will involve catalyst preparation, testing, interpretation of complex catalyst activity data as well as presentations to our automotive industry customers.
In Process Development you will be involved in the scale-up and transfer to production of new automotive catalyst technologies throughout our global network of manufacturing plants. You will have a hands-on practical approach, strong problem solving skills and be able to communicate and work closely with colleagues from Product Development and Operations. Good project management skills are essential as you will be required to work to strict production deadlines.
Ideally the successful applicants should possess either a PhD or degree (or equivalent) in chemistry, materials science or a related science discipline; for the Process Development role experience of coatings chemistry, colloid chemistry or rheology would be an advantage but not essential. International travel will be required in both roles.
These exciting roles provide excellent opportunities to apply your chemical knowledge to a range of products that improve air quality throughout the world.
