About the internship
While we want to develop graduates as our future leaders, we’re just as keen to bring under-graduates through onto our programmes. We were the first bank to offer first year internship opportunities and our Summer Internships offer that important first step.
Summer Internships
As the first financial services organisation to offer first year internships, we’re always leading the way. Our Internship Programmes are open to any undergraduate in their first or penultimate year of study, in any discipline. You’ll be based in one of our branches or commercial offices nationwide (we’ll try to find one convenient to you). We’ll give you an induction, on the job training, real work within a team, plus the support of a line manager and a buddying network from our current graduate population. The best news of all is that they include pay, and provide a potential stepping-stone into a rewarding career – perform well and we could offer you a permanent role on one of our Graduate Programmes when you graduate. If you successfully complete our Internship in your first year and are invited back in the second, we’ll give you a £1,000 bursary when you start the Penultimate Year. And everyone on the Internship is encouraged.
Skills required
A minimum of two months' customer-related work experience. This could include face-to-face or telephone contact with the public/customers/clients. It can be part-time or voluntary and need not be over a continuous two month period.
