Summer Analyst - Investment Management

Morgan Stanley Investment Management (MSIM) is one of the largest global asset management organizations of any full service securities firm, with 65 offices serving clients in 22 countries. Placement and duration.

The MSIM Summer Analyst Programme offers 10 weeks of extensive training, networking and various hands-on opportunities. Summer Analysts gain both business and organisational knowledge, while facilitating the successful completion of projects and and working on assignment. Summer Analysts attend a number of social and professional events to network and learn about the various products and roles within the Investment Management division. Each Summer Analyst is placed within a business unit and assigned a manager who provides guidance and mentoring throughout the summer.

Training programme.

The MSIM Summer Programme includes training and begins with orientation in London, including an introduction to Morgan Stanley and Investment Management, and technical training to ensure that the Summer Analysts are familiar with the Morgan Stanley systems before starting on the desk.

Responsibilities

Investments:

• MSIM’s investment teams offer our clients global investment experience across the spectrum of traditional financial assets (stocks, bonds, money market instruments and alternative investments) private and liquid markets, senior loans and absolute return strategies.
• Investment team members assume roles as portfolio managers, portfolio specialists, research analysts (fundamental and quantitative) and strategy specialists.

Sales, Marketing and Product Development:

• MSIM’s Sales, Marketing and Product Development teams work in partnership with the investment teams to offer products and services tailored to distinct client segments, such as the institutional and intermediary markets.
• Sales teams cultivate relationships with both current and prospective clients.
• The Marketing team is responsible for providing tools and services that promote our investment capabilities to prospective clients, educating them about our diverse strategies and empowering the sales force to win business and market share
• The Product Development team is tasked with analysing and reviewing product opportunities. They will lead projects to modify the existing product line, and conduct industry research on competitor products and platforms to assess competitive positioning and pricing.

Qualifications/skills/requirements

• You are a high-calibre undergraduate student in your penultimate year of study.
• You have a demonstrated commitment to diverse extracurricular activities.
• You communicate effectively in both written and verbal English is imperative, and the ability to communicate effectively in another language is also an advantage.
• You demonstrate a keen interest in the financial markets.
• You are analytical, quantitative, insightful, adaptable, a quick learner, a leader, a team player, a multi-tasker and possess a strong work ethic, strong verbal and written communication skills, and a positive attitude.

Interview process. For selected applicants we typically conduct at least two rounds of interviews. First-round interviews will take place in our London office. Our final round involves a full-day assessment centre held at our London office. The assessment centre will involve in-depth interviews, group and individual exercises, and a numerical reasoning test.
