Together we are Clifford Chance
At Clifford Chance our goal is to be at the forefront of the elite group of international law firms that is emerging. Clifford Chance, UK Law Firm of the Year (Chambers Europe Awards 2011) and Banking & Finance Team of the Year (The Lawyer Awards 2011), has more tier-one rankings in the global tables of Chambers Global 2011 than any other firm.
Our people Clifford Chance is a firm of exceptional lawyers drawn from a wide range of backgrounds – there is no one ‘type’ here. Instead, we aim to recruit people who can help us to give our clients a competitive edge in challenging situations. We’re looking for people who have the potential to become outstanding lawyers – irrespective of what you have studied at university. That means you’ll need to be able to think on your feet, to offer new ideas and to play your part in a team that is likely to span practice areas, offices and time zones.
Our offer We ask a lot of our trainees – focus and dedication are taken as read, but you’ll also need to be flexible and willing to adapt to new challenges and a lot of responsibility. Counterbalancing this is a level of investment in your career development that is only offered by a handful of professional services firms.
Your training
The Clifford Chance training programme will give you the skills and experience to begin contributing to your team immediately and to lay the foundations for a long-term, rewarding legal career. You will gain experience of working in at least three different practice areas, including the required level of exposure to contentious work. You will also enjoy the prospect of secondments to our overseas offices and major client organisations. Nearly 80 per cent of our trainees spend six months in one of our overseas offices. Each seat will give you exposure to new clients and colleagues, and you can expect to work on a variety of deals and projects, both large and small, as you build your portfolio of skills. Our outstanding business support teams and resources mean that you’ll be able to focus on tasks from which you can learn and add value. Alongside our extensive and ongoing education and training initiatives you will benefit from close support from your supervisor, mentor and ‘buddy’, as you learn ‘on the job’.
However, your training contract is only the beginning of your development as a lawyer at Clifford Chance. After qualification you will continue to benefit from outstanding training and learning through our Academy, and extensive career development opportunities to help you build a long-term career with our firm.
Minimum requirements: 320 UCAS points or equivalent and 2.1 degree expected/obtained or equivalent.
