Risk Assurance
Our Risk Assurance practice is growing rapidly to deal with the financial crisis, high-profile business disasters and technological developments that have characterised recent years. Alongside Financial Audit, your work may focus on the systems and controls a client has in place to support business processes. These factors not only make an organisation more robust, but also reassure investors about the integrity of financial information.
Later on, building on your new business skills, you could be offering expert guidance on sustainability issues or the best way to outsource services; explaining to clients how sound risk awareness can help them meet corporate goals; or advising on the most reliable and transparent ways to get information across to investors, customers and the public. Whatever projects you work on, one thing’s for sure: you’ll make a real difference to your clients’ success.
What you’d do
Common to the wide variety of work is our ability to design, evaluate and assure the effectiveness of our clients’ management processes. You might be doing anything from working with multinationals or governments to defining governance models to reviewing new business processes or understanding how a control failure affects an audit strategy.
You’ll advise on how to avoid unanticipated losses, manage uncertainty and create competitive advantage and you’ll build industry-specific skills. The specialist knowledge you’ll develop could include:
- Business Resilience and Controls
- Commercial Assurance
- Controls Assurance
- IT & Project Assurance
- Internal Audit
- Performance Assurance
- Treasury
Your training and development:
Our people make us stand out as a firm. So we choose the best and invest heavily in them. You’ll benefit from the encouragement, opportunity and support which includes:
- Our graduate training programme helps you gain breadth as well as depth of knowledge and build a portfolio of valuable, transferable skills.
- Movement throughout the firm – you’ll work in different teams and offices, experience different clients and projects; try out new roles and even sample other business areas. It will all help you develop along a path that fits your goals as well as the ever-changing needs of our business.
- Support to gain a professional qualification – study towards becoming a Chartered Accountant* with the Institute of Chartered Accountants, England and Wales (ICAEW) or the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland (ICAS).
What makes us different
In short, this is your chance to enjoy a huge variety of experiences, develop an enormous breadth of skills and build relationships that will stay with you throughout your life. Like all PwC people, you can also look forward to a competitive salary and a personally tailored benefits package.
Who we look for
As well as having plenty of commercial acumen and a passion for business, you’ll be able to show – through your work, study or other experiences – that you can analyse complex issues and develop practical solutions.
- A 2:1 or above in any degree discipline
- A UCAS tariff of at least 300 (or equivalent)
Equally important will be your ability to build relationships, to put yourself in others’ shoes and make a positive impact on our clients and us, while shaping your own future.
Exceptional exam results or exceptional potential?
But maybe you don’t have the grades we’re after because you’ve invested time in extra-curricular activities that show you’re exceptional. If so, you could still join us. ‘Inspired Talent’ is our entry route that recognises exam results aren’t the only way to prove you have potential.
