We have approximately 90 training contract vacancies for 2014. Training contracts at DLA Piper consist of four six month seats. Although we do not have compulsory seats, training contracts must consist of at least one contentious and one non-contentious seat. We try to ensure that the seats they undertake, give our trainees as broad a training experience as possible. Being a commercial firm, a seat in an area like corporate or finance is likely, however all trainees are able to express a preference as to which seats they would like to experience during their training contract.
There are opportunities to apply for client secondments which help trainees to hone their commercial skills. We offer secondments to a range of clients in the following industries:

• advertising
• television and media
• pharmaceutical
• retail
• sport
• technology
