Women’s skills best for recession

Diversity News, 12 June 2009

Women are better prepared for surviving the recession, according to research.

Onrec reports womenintechnology.co.uk is urging employers to look at female talent to get through the economic downturn.

According to Delta Economics, women are less concerned about the impact of the recession as they are more financially cautious and more focused on employee welfare and customer service than men.

A survey by the site revealed how female technologists claim their strong people skills set them apart from their male colleagues.

Maggie Berry, Director of womenintechnology.co.uk, said: “Women bring a different set of skills to the table; skills that are vital in challenging times such as these.

“Yes it’s a generalisation, but women tend to have stronger communication skills, as well as the technical ability. And in a time where building and maintaining relationships is key, it’s essential to have female talent in your technology team.”
