Recruitment
Some of the larger recruitment companies, usually specialising in professional positions, take on graduates on specific graduate trainee schemes, but all recruitment consultancies will give on-the-job training, usually supported by an experienced mentor. The industry is particularly performance-focused and successful candidates can expect to achieve early responsibility as soon as they can handle it.

Initial salaries for trainee consultants are unlikely to exceed £20K and basic salaries, even for managers with several years experience, rarely reach £50K. It is in commission, however, that consultants earn the lion’s share of their wages and top consultants after only 2-3 years can take home £100,000+, although the average is more likely to be around £35-60K.
