Saving for a house is becoming a priority over a gap year for students.
Money News reports they are finding it more and more difficult to afford to travel during a gap year.
Research by Abbey Mortgages found 42 per cent of students said that they are saving to get on the property ladder compared to 19 percent who are putting money away for travelling.
One in ten graduates who had completed a gap year revealed they would have made a different decision if they were faced with property prices now.
Nici Audhlam-Gardiner of Abbey Mortgages told Money News that students are forced to balance travelling with the cost of buying a house.
