Students Urged to Seek Work in Industries Predicted to Grow

Students are being urged to make smart career choices by choosing careers in industries predicted to increase graduate recruitment this year.As the class of 2009 prepare to graduate, students are told they should look to growing industries as graduate recruitment is expected to be cut by 17 percent this year. Blossoming sectors such as accountancy, the armed forces and the public sector are being touted as safe options as graduate recruitment in the public sector and armed forces is predicted to grow by around 13 percent, while accountancy could rise by 20 percent.Grafton Recruitment Managing Director, Cathy McCorry, said: "We need to keep things in perspective, the market has dipped, not crashed. Graduates should be encouraged the fact that entry-level vacancies at the UK’s leading employers are still a steady 25 percent higher than in 2003.Everybody recognises the market is unquestionably tougher for new graduates, but you have to look at it sector by sector. There are still great opportunities out there and students need to make smart choices and target their efforts on those sectors where demand is still growing."

Well. It's been almost 12months since I got my MEng in EE. Still nothing. Over this year I have found employers don't want Graduates. They want people with experience, 3years minimum

I'm guessing Engineering isn't a smart choice then as I have found nothing 9 months after graduating.
