Energy and utilities
Jobs roles are varied in the energy and utilities industry, but there are often specific degrees needed to start in them. General management, finance and IT may only need a 2.2 degree in any subject as the majority of specialist knowledge will be gained either in-house or on courses.Graduate jobs related to engineering will require a degree in the relevant area such as mechanical, electrical, aerospace or civil engineering. In some roles involved in areas including aerospace, research and development and geosciences, a postgraduate course such as a Masters may be an entry requirement.
This industry tends to offer various placements and internships to undergraduates which are ideal ways of gaining initial training, exploring potential jobs available to you and make contacts. If you want to work in this area, it is well worth trying to take part in at least one before you graduate and start looking for jobs.
