What's Involved

As a graduate within our Risk Function you will play a pivotal role in the Society’s ‘second line of defence’. Over the two-year programme, you will get exposure across the entire Risk department which will include placements in Information Security, Credit Risk, Conduct Risk & Compliance, Prudential Risk and Compliance, Operational and Enterprise Risk teams.

 As an oversight function, the teams are responsible for providing expert judgement and posing challenging questions to those with responsibility for managing the Society’s risks. You will develop capabilities in control, advocacy, training and supervision so that you may understand how to perform effective risk management; determine when risk might lead to opportunities; and be clear when risk can no longer be tolerated.  As a Risk graduate you will:

  • Promote an effective risk culture through the Society
  • Assist and support first line colleagues on risk and compliance matters
  • Develop a broad understanding of risk management across the Society
  • Have the confidence to challenge processes
  • Assist with and lead on our community support projects

We choose our staff every bit as carefully as we choose the services we offer our members and so look for people who share our values and our way of working. We are looking for individuals who have recently graduated, have a passion for Financial Services and who have achieved (or are expecting to achieve) a 2:1 or above in any degree subject or a Merit or above in a Masters qualification.
