As a Christie’s Art Handler, you will have unparalleled hands-on access to a huge array of Art Works, from framing Picassos and hanging Rembrandts to installing and laying out Chippendale furniture; the diversity of exposure and the quality of Art Handling training you will receive is unmatched anywhere in the Art World.

The company

Christie’s is the world’s biggest Art company. Founded in 1766 by James Christie, Christie’s has since conducted the greatest and most celebrated auctions through the centuries providing a popular showcase for the unique and the beautiful, from Picassos to Rembrandts via Chippendale furniture and Handbags.

Grades required

Five GCSE grades C – A* (or 4-9), including Maths and English.

Located near Green Park station and Piccadilly Circus station, London.

Through the Christie’s Art Handling Apprenticeship scheme, as well as enjoying the hi-octane pace of working in the world’s most prestigious Saleroom and Fine Art Storage Environment, you will also gain the opportunity to attain the Nationally recognised Level 2 Supply Chain Qualification.

With over £1bln of Artwork passing through Christie’s Headquarters in King Street, London every year, the skills you learn and the contributions you will make will open many doors in the competitive art world.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Learn Christie’s core values and how they link to the service culture
  • Know the internal policies and procedures as well as relevant and current regulations and legislation
  • Learn the systems, process and technology to ensure daily tasks are completed efficiently
  • Understand the structure of the auction fine art market
  • Support the wider company, understand your role and responsibility and the impact of your actions on others
  • Have a strong awareness of overall business activities and the ability to communicate relevant information effectively
  • Engage with various areas of Christie’s by listening and responding in a way that builds rapport and trust, determines customer needs and expectations and achieves positive engagement and delivery
  • Be able to organise yourself, prioritise and work to meet deadlines
  • Manage expectations, recognising and knowing how to adapt style to be highly sufficient

Skills required

Good knowledge of IT packages e.g Microsoft Office, Google Docs/Sheets etc.

Training

Gain an Intermediate Level 2 Supply Chain Warehouse Operative qualification.

Through the Christie’s Events Apprenticeship scheme, as well as enjoying the hi-octane pace of working in the world’s most prestigious Auction House, you will also gain the opportunity to attain a recognised qualification in events management.
