One year placement September 2018 – Corporate Audit (Reading)

This placement will be for 12 months starting in September 2018

Reporting to Manager/ Director

The team

The group specialises in assurance and advisory services for a variety of clients including family offices, owner managed business and global corporates. Our clients include multi-national groups and companies operating in our key sectors which include: shipping and offshore maritime, Energy, mining and renewables, real estate, hospitality, Insurance and financial services and technology and media.

Role purpose

To provide a high quality service to clients in respect of the preparation and audit of statutory accounts and on occasions, other ad hoc assignments.

Core responsibilities

  • Demonstrate a basic understanding of the objectives of an audit
  • Understand and act on basic instructions
  • Understand and perform basic tests from within our audit software PROaudit
  • Develop elementary knowledge of double entry
  • Assist in the call and cast of accounts
  • Assist in the preparation of lead schedules and audit work which includes, but is not limited to:
  1. Completing Statutory sections
  2. System notes
  3. Journal testing
  4. Capital and reserves sections
  5. Income testing
  6. Expenses testing
  • Follow any reasonable instruction by the Senior on the job
  • Assist with bank reconciliations and audit bank sections
  • Prepare legible and comprehensive working papers
  • Demonstrate an understanding of working to deadlines
  • Assist in aspects of property audits, which are of limited complexity, providing review points to manager
  • Prepare to be out of office at client sites conducting audits as and when required


  • Be aware of and comply with the firm’s policies at all times
  • Record time accurately using the Practice Management System
  • Any other duties appropriate to the grade and level of responsibility of this post, for which the post holder has the necessary experience and/or training
  • Be aware of the firm’s risk management and practice assurance procedures and ensure compliance
  • Ensure continuing professional development is up to date at all times

  • To be studying towards a relevant undergraduate degree
