This is an exciting time to join Camden, it’s a time of change and challenge but we have the ambition and we need the best people to help us deliver our new strategy. This Council has a fundamental ambition to reduce inequality in the borough and tackle some of the longstanding social problems head on - from child poverty and housing to domestic violence and mental health. We believe the best way we can do this is by taking a fresh look at how we can tackle underlying social problems.

This is why we’re looking for individuals with fresh ideas, different perspectives and the necessary skills to come and play a key part in our journey of improvement, finding new ways to make progress. Joining our graduate programme will put you at the forefront of our organisation.

We are looking for three highly motivated graduates who aspire to build a leadership career in the public sector and can take up the challenge of studying for an accredited higher apprenticeship whilst working full time. You can expect to gain real experience of Camden by spending the first two years rotating across the various functions in our Corporate Services, Supporting Communities and Supporting People directorates in 4-6 months placements before moving into a substantive post. This will include working within front line, operational and strategic teams and challenging, innovating and contributing to service improvement.

To be considered for this post, you will have or expect to obtain a minimum 2.2 degree qualification, and grade C or above in at least 5 GCSEs including English and Maths.

You will demonstrate a sound understanding of the challenges and opportunities that Camden faces and you will need to show that your values align to the Camden Way. You will have knowledge of the issues facing local government and make the case about what you will bring to Camden that makes you the person we are looking for.

You will possess excellent digital, communication, and leadership skills. The ability to build strong working relations and act as a proactive team player are essential to the role.

In Camden community is everything. Our community is highly diverse and we want to, as far as possible reflect this in our workforce; we therefore particularly welcome applications from people from BAME backgrounds, as well as people who live in the borough.

In return, you can expect a great range of benefits including

  • Sponsorship and support to gain an accredited Level 4 Associate Project Manager higher apprenticeship qualification
  • Interest free season ticket loan and discounted corporate gym membership
  • A mentor from within the leadership of the organisation
  • Opportunity to attend Council meetings and work with Camden’s partners.
  • Opportunity to become part of a network of Camden graduates
  • A fantastic pension scheme, central location, digital and flexible work environment
