This course is designed to cover the full range of topics and tasks as laid down by the awarding body in response to industry requirements. All practical activities are carried out within out start of the art workshops with theory work being a mix of classroom and assignment activities. The topics include: Contribute to establishing the operational area; Contribute to the progress of operations; Assist with the organisation of resources; Co-ordinate and install first and second fixings components and finishings; Co-ordinate and erect structural carcassing components; Produce timber and timber based products (woodworking machines). The study methods include practical workshop activities, formal classroom sessions, tutorials and student-centred learning. Students progress at their own pace, according to need and ability. Successful completion of this NVQ at level 3 exempts students from studying part of the BTEC First Certificate in Construction course. This qualification can also provide access to the study of Construction Technician qualifications. This course is also awarded with City and Guilds.
