Due to continued growth, we are excited to announce that Experian are looking to hire a number of people onto a new shift pattern on a part-time basis. These opportunities will be within our Background Checking (EBC) department.

You will be supporting one of Experian’s fastest growing products in achieving its impressive target of £21 million by 2021! It’s because of this growth that we are now looking for more talent to join the team.

Hours of Work

These opportunities are permanent, 20 hour week contracts. Hours will be 3 to 4 evenings Monday-Friday, from 6-10pm and a Saturday from 8am-4pm.

These roles will be ideal for a student looking to boost their income around their education, or someone looking to return to work on a part-time basis, or even as a second job to supplement your current income.

The Role

As an EBC colleague you will support our business clients, and their customers: our 2 key products are Candidate and Tenant. We provide the background checks for candidates and tenants for their new employees and landlords, respectively. These include criminal checks, employment references, credit checks and even media checks to name a few. Our roles vary and many of our team are multiskilled, able to communicate through our multi-channel contact centre, and complete back office tasks too. This makes the role really varied and with lots of development opportunities.

This position will give you a great opportunity to work closely with our consumers and clients and learn about the wider business of Experian. EBC is known for its fun and friendly environment, regularly running events and incentives, with a passion for colleague recognition.

Key Responsibilities

  • Handling client queries via telephone, email or live chat
  • Accurate processing of back office work, with attention to detail
  • Consistently delivering outcomes to a high standard within agreed timescales, procedures and quality standards
  • Identifying the best solution for the customer
  • Adhering to legislation and regulations at all times (Financial Conduct Authority, Data Protection Act, etc.)
  • Supporting the customers through their rental/Employment applications



  • Effective communication skills
  • Passionate about customer service and putting the customer first
  • Good attention to detail
  • Self-motivated
  • Competent PC skills


  • Previous Customer Service experience
  • Previous experience in an FCA regulated environment
  • Understanding of the complaints procedures
