Hours: 38 hrs, Monday to Thursday 07:30 to 16:00 and Friday 07:30 to 13:30

Duration: 36 Months

Overview:

Under contract to Leonardo Helicopters, 250 employed engineers carry out depth maintenance as part of a team working on Royal Navy Merlin Helicopters. A wide range of Mechanical tasks on equipment and systems is undertaken.

Under contract to Leonardo Helicopters over 250 engineers are employed to carry out depth maintenance as part of a team working on Royal Navy Merlin Helicopters. They undertake a wide range of Mechanical based tasks on equipment and systems.

Main duties:

  • Aircraft power plant.
  • Rotors and Transmissions
  • Hydraulic Systems
  • Landing Gear
  • Pneumatics
  • Naval Air Publications and Compound –Interactive Electronic Technical Publications (C-IEPT)
  • Health & Safety
  • Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) Regs
  • Tool Control and Quality Practices
  • You will also learn about Gold ESP (Electronic asset management and work recording tool)

What we are looking for in our canidates:

  • Maths Grade B or above or Grade 9 to 6 under the new grading structure
  • English and a Science subject Grade A – C or Grade 9 to 4 under the new grading structure
  • An additional GCSE Grade A – C or Grade 9 to 4 under the new grading structure
  • You will also need to complete an initial assessment, which will help us guide you to the most appropriate programme to meet your needs.

Training to be provided:

  • NVQ L3 Extended Diploma in Aeronautical Engineering (On Aircraft Maintenance) – no college attendance required
  • Tech Cert L3, 120 credit Diploma in Aeronautical Engineering
  • L2 Performing Engineering Operations
  • Functional Skills in English, Maths and ICT, as required – no college attendance required

Things to consider:

You must be able to travel to RNAS Culdrose in Cornwall on a daily basis.

**Interviews will be held on Wednesday 13 and Thursday 14 March**

You must not be colour blind - proof will be required that you are at least Colour Perception (CP) 2 (obtainable from any optician). 

As we are located on a military establishment, you will be required to undergo the full Ministry of Defence security checks, which includes a check of criminal records.

You may be required to live away from home for periods whilst at College studying for your National Technical Certificate or it may be a local College on day release. If so Serco will cover costs in accordance with Company guidelines.
