Fundraising Assistant

Reporting to: Director of Capital Appeals & Fundraising

Department: Fundraising

Hours of work:

Your hours of work will be as per your contract of employment. A full time role equates to 37.5 hours per week not including breaks

Flexibility is required to meet the needs of our business; you may on occasion be asked to cover as a manager for one of our other stores on a short terms basis

Salary: £18,000 - £22,000 full time salary per annum, pending experience

Your mission:

  • To:
    • be the first point of contact for fundraising enquiries ensuring excellent customer service
    • provide general administration and support to the fundraising team
    • provide donor support
  • Assist with fundraising events and activities, taking responsibility for managing participants in sponsored events

Role specific responsibilities:-

Fundraising Team Support

  • Assist the Director of Fundraising with:-
    • the administration of major gifts
    • initial research on potential funders
  • First point of contact for all fundraising enquiries (via post, email, website etc) and providing excellent supporter and customer care
  • Work in partnership with the Community Fundraiser/s to develop an effective:-
    • tracking of collection cans, ensuring:-
      • a robust process for issuing and return of collection boxes, cans and buckets is in place
      • income is received
    • method to record and distribute up to date fundraising promotional materials
      • within the Royal Free Hospital
      • with local businesses and residents
  • Support the fundraising team in sending thank you letters and certificates
  • Responsible for the general fundraising email inbox and responding to enquiries or passing to the relevant team member

Fundraising Events

  • Support the fundraising team with event fundraising activity
  • Attend and give assistance at fundraising events

Database

  • Input of donor data into Raiser’s Edge database

General

  • General administrative duties such as answering telephone calls and income mail
  • Undertake other appropriate duties as required for the effective operation of the fundraising team

  • Educated to graduate level
  • Excellent written / report writing skills
  • First class people / customer service focused skills
  • Ability to:-
    • prioritise, organise and manage workload effectively whilst dealing with unplanned interruptions
    • accurately input and handle data entry
    • follow instructions and adhere to Charity and Trust policies
  • Excellent IT skills (Word, Excel and Powerpoint)
  • Honest, flexible and responsible
  • Ability to work in (i) a different geographical location including travel to and from, (ii) occasional unsocial hours, (iii) weekends, (iv) evenings as instructed by line manager
