Programme Overview

Starr Companies have a number of internship opportunities available for Summer 2019. One of these being with our Political and Financial Risks team. The successful candidate will participate in Starr’s 8-week internship programme, with the objective of the programme being to gain experience and exposure to the London insurance market.This will be achieved through a blended approach of on-the-job learning, self-study and tailored training courses.

The successful candidate will focus on the fundamentals of Political and Financial Risks. There will also be the opportunity to work on related growth projects and business development initiatives.

What you will need for the programme?

At Starr we look for individuals from all backgrounds who can bring fresh thinking and different perspectives.To qualify for our internship programme we do however specify that candidates demonstrate the following:

Available to work and travel:

-Able to travel to the City of London for 8 weeks, their first day being Monday 1 July; and

-Right to Work in the UK (Company sponsorship will not be offered).

Education and Experience:

-Interested in a career in insurance;

-Keen interest in Politics; and

-Educated to AS/A-level or working towards University degree in one or more of the following:

  • Economics
  • Business Studies
  • Finance
  • Politics

Skills and Aptitude:

-Strong verbal, written and interpersonal skills;

-Ability to organise and manage their time;

-Strong numeracy skills;

-Analytical and creative thinking;

-Flexibility and manage change;

-A self-starter who takes accountability for their work; and

-IT skills - MS Office – Excel, Word and Outlook.
