Starr Companies have a number of internship opportunities available for Summer 2019. Two of these are with our Financial Lines teams that form part of our International Casualty division. The successful candidate will participate in Starr’s 8-week internship programme, with the objective of the programme being to gain experience and exposure to the London insurance market. This will be achieved through a blended approach of on-the-job learning, self-study and tailored training courses.
Interns will focus on either the fundamentals of Directors and Officers or Professional Indemnity Risks.There will also be the opportunity to work on related growth projects and business development initiatives.
What you will need for the programme?
At Starr we look for individuals from all backgrounds who can bring fresh thinking and different perspectives.To qualify for our internship programme we do however specify that candidates demonstrate the following:
Available to work and travel:
-Able to travel to the City of London for 8 weeks, their first day being Monday 1 July; and
-Right to Work in the UK (Company sponsorship will not be offered).
Education and Experience:
-Interested in a career in insurance.
Skills and Aptitude:
-Strong verbal, written and interpersonal skills;
-Data processing skills;
-Ability to organise and manage their time;
-Strong numeracy skills;
-Analytical and creative thinking;
-Flexibility and manage change;
-A self-starter who takes accountability for their work; and
-IT skills - MS Office – Excel, Word and Outlook.
