Amalgamated Metal Trading Ltd (AMT), a leading ring dealing member of the London Metal Exchange (LME), and part of the Amalgamated Metal Corporation Plc (AMC) group, is currently investing in new technologies as part of its plan for further growth.

A new role has been created for someone with experience of using a Query Language (SQL and TSQL programming) to help develop and shape AMT’s technology capabilities. If you have the ability to read and/or create scripts in Transact SQL (Views/Stored Procedures/Functions) and know your way around an SQL server, besides having a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (particularly Excel) then this role could be an exciting opportunity to learn about AMT’s business, the mechanics of the LME and the current technologies of our trading systems.

You would report to the IT Manager in AMT and undergo an extensive training programme over your first six months, including additional training in technical areas such as enhanced SQL and TSQL.

Initially, the primary function of the role will be to gain the necessary training to enable you to assist the IT Manager in the day to day running and support of AMT's data processing requirements.Responsibilities will include maintenance/monitoring of fault reporting and change requests, testing of new software, supplier and LME liaison, covering of major support issues in your manager’s absence and user support.

After six months, you will become actively involved in IT projects and as your knowledge of the industry develops you would be expected to take an active interest in any changing IT requirements/developments in the industry and offer long term solutions to commercial opportunities.

A pre-requisite for applicants would be sound systems analysis skills and preference would be given to candidates with experience of SSIS (SQL Server Integration Services) and C#.

You will be working in an open-plan trading environment which means that you must be confident at communicating at all levels, thrive when working to deadlines and within a team, be comfortable with changing priorities and flexible with your working hours.

Please send CV and full covering letter highlighting your skills and experience relevant to the role.
