National Grid Graduate Programme

A career with purpose

We’re National Grid: we bring power to people. From heating up homes to keeping the lights on in hospitals, the energy we deliver makes the everyday possible. Now, you can help us, as we shape the future of millions and build the hi-tech networks of tomorrow.

What routes can I take?

Engineering and Technical

As populations grow and demands change, our network will face some epic engineering challenges. You can ensure that we’re prepared for anything. Whether you’re implementing essential safety mechanisms or analysing data in-depth, this programme is your first step towards a brighter future for energy.

Here, you’ll work with experts in-the-field and discover how we deliver energy to a nation, 24/7, 365 days a year. During your time on one of our Engineering and Technical programmes you’ll drive progress, create a legacy, and enjoy some great perks along the way.

Non-Technical and Commercial

World-class delivery. Forward thinking. A stable future. As one of our Non-Technical or Commercial Graduates, you’ll ensure our infrastructure is built to meet the needs of our customers and communities, today and tomorrow.

Throughout the programme, you’ll develop a wide range of leadership, business and technical skills through structured training and on the-job experience. You’ll also work closely with your line manager to establish and navigate your own Personal Development Plan, tailored to your needs.

Business Support

Delivering energy to millions takes smart thinking – and big business expertise. On this programme, you’ll gain a unique insight into how functions like Finance, HR, Procurement, IT and Legal work together, on a nationwide scale, and make everything run smoothly.

As a Business Support Graduate, you’ll build up essential management, strategic and organisational abilities, in a discipline of your choice. You’ll also learn by working side-by-side with our team of specialists, supported by a Personal Development Plan designed around you.

What we’re looking for

The world of energy is constantly evolving: we need people with the spark, adaptability and drive to keep people connected. If you’re passionate about the future of our industry – and excited by the prospect of changing it – then you could be right for National Grid.

What’s in it for me?

If you’re looking to launch a career in the energy industry, our Graduate Programme offers a unique foundation and comprehensive perspective.
