Starting Salary £28,170
Progressing to £32,437 upon successful completion of Stage 1, and to £35,201 at Stage 2

If you’ve completed ‘A’ Levels in Maths (Grade A*-C) and Physics (A* - D), or a HNC in Electrical or Mechanical Engineeringand are thinking about your next step, we have exciting opportunities for ambitious, committed Planning & Design Trainees who want to earn while gaining career-building skills, knowledge and qualifications.

Joining us as a Planning & Design Trainee, you’ll learn all about designing, costing and quoting projects for new electricity supplies, and the replacement / diversion and reinforcement of existing electricity network assets.You will take part in detailed technical discussions with customers, architects, public authorities and landowners both over the phone and in person during site visits.

In your first two years, you’ll also benefit from formal training that includes vocational and academic courses. This is complemented by on-the-job, managed experience where you can put your new skills into practice.

On successful completion of the scheme (if not already achieved), you will hold a foundation degree in Electrical Engineering, and be a capable Network Planner with the skills essential to making robust decisions and successfully delivering essential works.

So, as well as holding the necessary qualifications, you will also be personable and approachable and have a solid understanding of engineering and financial matters.
