Make your project management work experience mean more – for you and the nation. Join FCO Services, on a student placement, and you can help deliver mission-critical services to government-level customers around the world.

Provide vital support for projects around the globe

You’ll be working within our Professional Services Centre, which handles more than 600 construction, refurbishment and alteration projects a year – everything from engineering a new secure government site to repairing an embassy hit by flooding. Your job will be to provide project and programme managers with support across a range of areas, such as processes and planning, financial performance and risk management. This will give you exposure to many different project management responsibilities, including creating project schedules, forecasting resource requirements and maintaining project financials.

Throughout your placement, you will be expected to focus on your development, seizing opportunities to increase your understanding and making the most of all the training we offer. Towards the end, you should have built up enough knowledge and skills to manage a small project of your own. There will also be an opportunity for you to progress into a permanent position, depending on your performance during the placement and the outcome of your degree.

Put everything you’ve learned into practice

As someone who has spent at least two years studying project management at undergraduate level, you will have a solid understanding of the methodologies used in the design, development and implementation of projects and will know all about preparing project plans. A strong interest in construction and engineering projects would be ideal – and if you’ve already gained experience working on them, even better. Other key qualities we are looking for include strong IT, analytical and organisational skills along with the ability to work effectively as part of a team and to build strong relationships with other people and get them to deliver on an end goal.

And get your career off to the best possible start

At FCO Services, you won’t just do work that has real impact, protecting information, assets and people all over the world. You’ll also be able to gain experience that will make a real difference to your career, with opportunities to get involved in unique and diverse projects, and potentially travel overseas.

Closing date: 3rd April 2019.
