AB Agri Ltd – Supply Chain Graduate Scheme

A fantastic opportunity to enable you to develop a real understanding of the agri-food supply chain, and gain exposure to the full order to delivery process

The Supply Chain Graduate scheme runs for 18 months, and will provide you with essential skills and exposure to every stage of the supply chain function, from initial customer enquiry, through to production and logistics. You will see first-hand, how our agri-businesses meet the demands of our customers, and the changes presented by our marketplace, Work placements across our business, will give you a great breadth of experience and unique insight into our operational world.

Our scheme centres on Supply Chain management, consisting of Manufacturing, Logistics and Engineering. Areas where Graduates will find themselves working include;

  • Operations Management; Strategy Development; Continuous Improvement; Budget and Operational Stock Control
  • Experience within our mill operations
  • Understanding People Management, and what it takes to lead
  • Customer Support; Supply Chain Planning; Health and Safety; Raw Material Control
  • Experience in purchasing and accreditation
  • Logistics including Transport Planning; Management of Fleet Operations
  • Working with site based and central teams to deliver capital projects and enhancement of current maintenance systems
  • Experience of supply chain management, and feed safety within our international businesses

The right candidate will need to apply their intellect as well as a hands-on approach as there will be a mixture of theory and practice right across our dynamic Supply Chain which extends the length and breadth of the UK, as well as our international business areas.

The variety of opportunities allows for not only the broadest accumulation of knowledge within a short space of time but also ensures that each graduate is given a taste of every aspect of the Supply Chain.

Whilst placements focus upon Production, Transport and Engineering, the Supply Chain Graduate Programme with AB Agri provides a superb opportunity to gain sought after technical skills, real hands-on management and leadership experience in a challenging operational environment. 

Person Requirements

In order to succeed within the scheme a background in agriculture is not a necessity but you will need to have drive, passion and an adventurous spirit. The pace, at times, can be fast, often with steep learning curves but for the right graduate it will also be a highly enjoyable and fulfilling career opportunity.

The right graduate will have enthusiasm to learn new things, travel to new places and the ability to creatively interact and learn from everybody they meet, from customers, drivers, mill staff and office workers through to our international colleagues, management and directors on a daily basis.

You will need to be geographically mobile and be willing to move around the UK to take up opportunities that the programme presents. You will also need to have a full clean driving licence.

In essence we are looking for:-

  • Someone highly driven and ambitious with a strong sense of determination
  • To be culturally aware, with the ability to work in different working environments (as opposed to solely office based)
  • To work with energy and speed. Be adaptable, highly organised, and able to multi-task and manage your time effectively.
  • To be strategic, and able to focus on the big picture whilst retaining good attention to detail
  • The ability to actively listen and learn a wide variety of information. To be influential and seek to challenge
  • To show creativity through contributing new ideas and seeking opportunities to act on them
  • To demonstrate leadership capability. Be resilient, receptive and to take full ownership for your work and overall development 
  • Someone with excellent communication skills, able to encourage the trust and respect of others. A positive self-starter, with an collaborative, team player attitude
  • To be accountable and outcome focused, with the ability to ‘make it happen’

You will need a minimum of:-

  • A 2:1 degree (any subject)
  • Permanent and unrestricted right to work in the UK
  • Be mobile and willing to relocate (possibly internationally) during the scheme

Learning and Development

At AB Agri we welcome new talent, fresh ideas and the ability to challenge the way we do things. Our graduate schemes are not the end of your learning and development experience, but the first step to a career-long development process.

You can expect plenty of support, including a personally assigned mentor and graduate ‘buddy’, however, the responsibility to drive your own development will be in your hands. It is essential that you are able and willing to manoeuvre independently around the UK to meet the challenges, demands and take the opportunities that our Graduate Scheme presents.
