Test Analyst/Developer - Graduate

We are currently recruiting for a Test Analyst/Developer to join our team.

As Test Analyst/Developer you will be working with pricing and underwriting systems that are an integral part of Aviva’s Commercial Insurance solution.

By using your knowledge and experience of testing methods and practices you will help the team deliver creative and market leading solutions that support the goals and dreams of the business as well as improve internal processes.

Whilst initially this role is testing focused there is the potential, if you show the required aptitude, to move towards a more development role which will include a level of analysis and coding.

What does the role include

  • Working closely with external partners, internal Pricing and Underwriting teams, Project Managers and Business Analysts to assist in the delivery of improvements to existing software and the creation of new software to support new systems and products

  • Building and maintaining test plans/packs and test procedures, taking ownership of defects throughout the lifecycle as well as evaluating testing requirements for a broad range of developments including projects, small changes and errors

  • Working with expert, highly talented Test Analysts to help drive continuous improvement by redesigning/refactoring existing plans and packs to improve efficiency

  • Challenging existing methods and practices, helping to design and implement new processes and techniques with a view to improving the accuracy and capability of testing

  • Contribute to team-orientated projects and workstreams using a variety of methodologies, including Agile SCRUM/KANBAN and traditional waterfall

What experience/skills does the role require

  • A questioning mind with a logical and methodical approach to problem solving

  • Ability to produce work of high quality on a tight deadline

  • Ability to self manage and plan testing tasks and communicate potential problems, issues and risk areas associated with the changes

  • Proven excellent communication skills with ability to communicate clearly and concisely with all levels of the business both technical and non-technical personnel

Other desirable but not essential skills include

  • Experience in building, executing and maintaining test cases as well as test plans with the ability to produce work of high quality on a tight deadline

  • Experience in project-based, small improvement and error driven software testing and knowledge of QA tools (e.g. JIRA) and processes

  • Excel formulas and VBA and/or other programming/developing experience

  • ISEB/ISTQB certification
