Supporting students and graduates as they transition into working life

Milkround and Student Minds announces their partnership to support students as they move from education into working life.

Milkround are delighted to announce their partnership with Student Minds. They are the UK’s student mental health charity and focus on empowering both students and those who are part of the university community. They help individuals to develop their understanding and build their skills to look after their own mental health as well as supporting others.

With so much change and uncertainty, we felt now more than ever was the time to be supporting students with their mental health, as we try to understand what the impact of COVID-19 will be for the younger generation.

Many internships have been postponed or cancelled. Graduate start dates have also been delayed and employers have had to put hiring freezes in place. We are still unsure of the longer-term effects that this will have for students and their careers and it’s important they know that they can talk openly about their concerns.

We know that even before this year, transitioning from the role of a university student and taking the first steps into a career can be daunting. They may be relocating to a new city, leaving the lives they’ve enjoyed for the past three or so years and starting afresh with new relationships and new routines. We therefore aim to work with Student Minds to help bridge the gap between employers and graduates to better empower students when making their moves and support them as they make life-changing and challenging decisions. We also look to assist in equipping employers with tools and advice to enable them to better support new graduates joining the workforce.

Over the coming months we are very much looking forward to focusing on our partnership with Student Minds to expand on their initiatives. Georgie Brazier, graduate jobs expert at Milkround commented:

Working with Student Minds will better enable us to guide both employers and graduates joining the workforce. Being open about mental health has evolved considerably over the past years, but we still have a way to go to understand the different needs of individuals and we look forward to supporting their initiatives.

Student Minds commented:

We are incredibly grateful that Milkround has chosen to support Student Minds. Milkround’s generous donation will enable us to empower more students and members of the university community to look after their own mental health, support others and create change. As we continue to support higher education communities through the Covid-19 pandemic, donations from the private sector are needed now more than ever, which makes Milkround’s donation even more powerful.
